Location: Alvarado, TX (Onsite)

Job Summary:

The Technical Writer plans, develops, delivers, and maintains information products to support product and service deployment and product maintenance, throughout the product and service lifecycle. Information products include but are not limited to operation, maintenance, & concept manuals, assembly and disassembly instruction manuals, inspection manuals, training, multimedia, and technical illustrations. Should collaborate with SME's to gather information and present it in a way that is accessible to the target audience.

Key Skill Sets:

  • Manufacturing / Engineering Product documentation experience
  • Excellent grammar and punctuation skills with attention to detail
  • Key interpersonal skills including a self-starter and ability to work independently
  • Evaluate current content and develop innovative methods for improvement
  • Tools such as Adobe FrameMaker, RoboHelp, Advanced user of Content Management Systems (Windchill), XML authoring (Arbortext Editor) or equivalent
  • Illustration and graphic designing tools such as Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop

Minimum Qualification

  • B.E. or B. Tech (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics) / Masters in English or Equivalent Degree
  • Oil & Gas domain experience

Responsibilities:

  • Create product manuals/ instruction manuals/ How- To guides and other supporting documents to communicate technical information.
  • Gather information from SME's and develop, organize and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation.
  • Proofread and reauthor functional specifications and other engineering-authored technical documents to simplify overall functionality and product intricacies.
  • Present complex information to the target audience in a controlled language such as Simplified Technical English (STE) and Plain English.
  • Serve the role of an editor / proofreader by participating in peer reviews.
