**Outside Machinist**
**Pay: Up to $40/hr**
**Job Description**
We are seeking an experienced Outside Machinist to maintain and repair ship's propulsion and auxiliary systems, including Steam, Turbine, Electrical, and Diesel propulsion systems, rudders, steering gear, elevators, and Navy UNREP systems. This role involves installing, repairing, and maintaining ship's fluid systems such as pumps, compressors, purifiers, heat exchangers, actuators, and valves, while ensuring all systems meet specified standards.
**Responsibilities**
+ Maintain and repair ship's propulsion and auxiliary systems, including rudders and steering gear.
+ Install, repair, and maintain ship's fluid systems, including pumps, compressors, purifiers, and valves.
+ Test equipment to ensure systems meet specifications.
+ Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on boilers, pumps, and valves.
+ Conduct major and specialized mechanical overhauls on gasoline and marine engines.
+ Establish and maintain a preventive maintenance program for marine engines and equipment.
+ Operate hand and power tools for marine engine repair.
+ Assist in the fabrication of equipment.
**Essential Skills**
+ Journeyman level Outside Machinist with over 5 years of experience.
+ DBIDS eligible and able to work on NBSD and NASNI.
+ Minimum three years of experience in a related field or relevant Navy ratings.
+ Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
+ Ability to read and comprehend hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams.
+ Proficiency in using precision measurement tools.
+ Understanding of Imperial and Metric measuring systems.
+ Shop mathematic skills, including geometry and trigonometry.

**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $42.00/hr.
