Position Title: Hotel & Resort Painter
Reports to: Chief Engineer
Department: Engineering
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt/Full-Time
Wages: Hourly $20.00-24.00 depending on experience

The Hotel Maintenance Painter is an essential member of the hotel’s maintenance team, playing a vital role in ensuring aesthetic quality and guest satisfaction. Job Overview: Responsible for performing a variety of painting and finishing tasks within the hotel premises ensuring all areas maintain a polished and appealing look. Preparing surfaces, applying decorative and protective finishes, and repairing any damaged surfaces to enhance the aesthetic quality of the hotel and ensure a comfortable environment for all guests.

This position ensures that all painted surfaces—ranging from guest rooms to public areas and exteriors—are well-maintained and reflect the quality standards expected in the hospitality industry. Guest Experience Enhancement:

Aesthetic Improvement:
  • Deliver high-quality painting and finishing work that transforms and refreshes the hotel’s interior and exterior spaces, creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests.
  • Identify areas requiring attention or repair, enabling proactive maintenance that reduces the likelihood of larger, costly renovations in the future.
    Ensure all painted surfaces remain in excellent condition to preserve the hotel’s image and value.
  • Surface Preparation: Inspects surfaces to determine the extent of preparation required, including washing, sanding, scraping, or priming.
  • Fill holes, cracks, and imperfections in surfaces prior to painting.
  • Painting and Finishing: apply paint, varnish, stains and other finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
  • Ensures finishes are applied evenly and according to industry standards for both interior and exterior surfaces.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform minor repairs to drywall, woodwork, and other surfaces as needed prior to painting.
  • Utilize appropriate techniques to ensure long-lasting durability of finishes.
  • Color Consultation: Assist in selecting color palettes and finishes that align with the hotel’s aesthetic standards and branding.
  • Provide recommendations for touch-ups or renovations in various areas of the property.
  • Safety and Clean-up: Adhere to safety guidelines while handling paint and chemicals, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Maintain a clean and organized work area, properly disposing of materials and ensuring minimal disruption to hotel operations.

Collaboration: Work closely with the other maintenance team members to coordinate painting projects without impacting guest experience. Foster positive relationships with other departments to support overall hotel goals. Communicate effectively with management regarding project timelines, material needs and urgent repairs.


Education and Experience:

Minimum High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in painting or relevant experience preferred.
Proven experience in painting and surface finishing in a commercial setting, preferably in hospitality.
Knowledge of various painting techniques, materials, and safety practices.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong attention to detail.
Physical stamina to perform manual labor and lift heavy materials when required.
