Specifications: The Biostatistician II manages the data team to lead in the design of data collection, management, and analytic systems; provides statistical and scientific consulting for research projects; develop and oversee plans for complex studies including randomized trials, longitudinal cohort studies and health services research. Prepares written summaries and tables of results, and drafts scientific reports, papers, and grant applications. The biostatistician II will be part of a team where peer to peer consultation and collaboration is an important aspect of the culture. This position works integrally with research faculty across departments to collaborate on quality grant submissions, and implementation and analysis of well designed, high quality clinical studies in support of knowledge dissemination on an international level. The biostatistician II will be the statistician of record on grants submitted through the department. As the statistician of record on grants, this role is critical to ensuring the scientific rigor, integrity of study design, analysis plans, and data interpretation.The biostatistician will mentor and support the data team, faculty and trainees in continuous analytic skills improvement and acquisition through providing didactics, consultations, and participating in research seminars and workshops. Lead seminars or lectures for researchers and trainees on biostats and quantitative methods.
Specifications: PhD in Statistics or Biostatistics required. At least three years of collaborative work experience in a medical or public health research environment required. Five or more years of statistical experience preferred. Five or more years of collaborative work experience in medical or public health research environment preferred. Experience with complex, multifactorial studies including longitudinal trials, implementation science including cluster randomized designs and analysis, clinical effectiveness designs and analysis, and longitudinal/multilevel models required. Experience in several statistical software packages (including by not limited to SAS, R, STATA, S-Plus, ) and REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture)required. Experience in a leadership position for an analytic team preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Familiarity with causal inference, mediation, longitudinal data analysis, psychometric validation, item response theory, dyadic designs, and analysis, and/or time series analysis preferred. Must have the ability to translate complex biological, medical, and socio-behavioral research questions into statistical questions. Must be able to effectively devise and communicate a statistical plan for major grant submissions. Candidates must have an NIH-compliant biosketch demonstrating a track record of significant contributions to federally funded research.
