Accounting Assistant

The Opportunity  

Responsible for reconciling production, preparing weekly production reports, and reconciling physical inventories.  The person in this role will also be responsible for reconciling quantities for all milk components used in the production process. This permanent position will report to the Managerial Accountant.

• Reconcile production daily, weekly, and monthly
• Prepare weekly production reports
• Perform monthly milk reconciliations and review settlement agreements with DFA.
• Assist with milk reporting and analysis
• Validate physical plant inventories against SAP weekly.
• Participate in the monthly and year-end closing process
• Review weekly and monthly general ledger cost areas and prepare correcting journal entries as directed.
• Assist with plant annual planning processes, including preparation of variance analysis, as directed.
• Assist with standardization of reporting and analysis across manufacturing locations, as directed.
• Identify opportunities and recommend process improvements/standardization; manage projects as assigned
• Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health Act which are applicable to his/her own actions and conduct.
• Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates (Safe Quality Foods, Food, and Drug Admin, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance)
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Skills you will bring to the team  

• High school diploma or equivalent required, with an associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field preferred; or a minimum of one-year related experience and/or training.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from various teams.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet (Excel), graphics, etc.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources
• Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals. Participates in special projects/ action teams.
• Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
